Inside the app
Five tabs. The whole city.
Explore, Plan, Map, Arrivals and Home. Everything here is taken from the real app, built for Chicago and nowhere else.
Watch every train move, live.
Switch on any of the eight ‘L’ lines, Metra, buses or Divvy and see vehicles where they actually are, moving as they move. Tap a station for its next arrivals, or hit Go now to get moving straight away.
- All eight ‘L’ lines, Metra, CTA buses and Divvy, layer by layer
- Live vehicle positions on a calm, dark basemap
- Save any stop to Home with a single tap
Every stop on the line, at a glance.
Pick a line and see the next trains at every station, top to bottom. Live predictions show in white. When CTA falls back to the timetable, the time turns amber, so you never wait for a train that may not exist.
- CTA trains, CTA buses and Metra
- Step-free stations marked on every board
- Service changes flagged on the line before you board

Door to door, compared honestly.
Enter a start and a destination and compare every way there by train, bus, Metra, on foot or by bike. Each option shows how long it takes, when you arrive and the shape of the trip, so “mostly one train” and “three short hops” look different at a glance.
Every card says where to board and where to get off, and when the next train leaves: a live countdown, or Scheduled in amber when only the timetable knows. Tap Go now and the trip is drawn on the map, with step-by-step walking to the platform and your train followed once you're on board.
- Fastest, fewest changes or step-free only
- Bring your own bike or grab a Divvy
- Leave now or plan for later
Not sure where to go? Ask the city.
Explore is a city guide that thinks in train lines. Browse restaurants, cafés, museums and nightlife, get picks that change with the time of day, and filter to places a few minutes from a station on the line you're riding.
Partner spots carry exclusive coupons for ChiTransit riders, and every place shows its closest ‘L’ station and how to get there.
- “Along the L”: places near any line
- Open hours, closest station and step-free access
- One tap from a place to directions

Bikes and docks, before you walk over.
Turn on Divvy and every station shows up as a teal diamond with the number of bikes and scooters beside it, pulsing when there's something to ride. Tap one to see the bikes available, how many are electric, the scooters and the open docks, so you know there's a ride waiting for you, or a dock to drop a bike in.
- Bikes, e-bikes and scooters, counted live
- Stations that aren't lending or taking bikes back are flagged
- Go now plans the fastest way there; Save puts it on Home

Built for every rider
The details that make it calm.
Small things, done carefully, so every rider can trust what's on the screen.
Color-vision palettes
Line colors carry the meaning in transit. ChiTransit can redraw all eight lines with palettes tuned for red-green and blue-yellow color blindness, on the map and everywhere else.
Step-free, built in
Ask for a step-free, accessible route and every trip respects it, or pick the option with minimum walking.
Service alerts that stand out
When a line is disrupted you'll see it before you board, not on the platform.
Saved on Home
Pin train stations, bus stops, Metra stations and Divvy docks. Their next arrivals, bikes and scooters are waiting when you open the app.
Location sharing, once
Send someone where you are, one time. No ongoing tracking.
Rider reports
Report crowding, delays or safety concerns from your train or bus, and see recent reports along your route, so you can pick the trip that feels right.

Perks for riding and reporting. Everyone who signs up before launch gets premium features free for life.
Our mission
Chicago moves better when more of us ride together.
ChiTransit exists to make getting around Chicago by public transit easier, safer, and more affordable — for lifelong residents and first-time visitors alike. When newcomers can confidently hop on the Red Line instead of calling an Uber, everyone wins: it's cheaper for them, and it's one less car adding to a commute that already logs some of the worst traffic in the country.
Easier & safer
Real-time arrivals, live train positions, and service alerts so every ride feels predictable, not stressful.
Built for first-timers
Visitors can learn Chicago transit in minutes, not days — no local knowledge required, and no need to rent a car.
Less traffic, more city
Every rider who skips the drive is one fewer car in gridlock — a more enjoyable, walkable city, and a smaller carbon footprint for everyone.
